What to Know When Writing a Resume for a Human - Work It Daily
What to Know When Writing a Resume for a Human - Work It Daily Hereâs the reality. Companies are getting 500-1,000 resumes for advertised jobs and thatâs a lot for someone to wade through. Your resume has to have a strong theme in order to get that call for an interview. Remember that employers look at your resume for 20 seconds before putting you in the Yes, No, or Maybe pile. Scan your resume for 20 seconds and then think what message it sends. The ONLY part of the resume that everyone will read is the opening SUMMARY. This is where you indicate you skills and experience and create a theme that makes someone want to know more. Avoid fluff statements that anyone can say. For example, an opening for a sales professional might state: Over 10 years in industrial sales at such companies as GE, Honeywell, and Grainger. Consistently top ranked for performance nationwide averaging 121% of quota over the last 10 years. Here you have indicated that you are a top performer so the rest of the resume needs to prove that by indicating your quota achievement and rank against your peers. Your Next Step On the next page I provide a complimentary 18-point checklist of things you must have to properly write a resume for this job market. Get your copy now. FREE DOWNLOAD ?
